What to do in our area

Angling & Watersports
Not only Lake Corrib provides plenty of opportunities for the fishing and boating enthusiast -the whole area is a true angler's paradise, with Lough Mask, Lough Nafooey, Killary Harbour and many streams as well as river Finney and canal joining Mask and Corrib nearby. There are excellent opportunities to catch brown trout with the odd chance for a Salmon. We have our own jetty on the lake and arrange for boats to hire. We will also provide you with valuable
advice on the best fishing grounds! Trout Fishing is free, a salmon licence can be purchased in the local villages.
Other watersports include kayaking, canoeing, sailing and swimming, which is safely possible from our jetty.
Hiking,Walking and Cycling
The area offers plenty of planned trails and guided walks are available in various locations throughout Connemara and Mayo offering extensive hill walking options. Most famous - and most popular - is the walk up to Croagh Patrick, Ireland's sacred mountain. 417m Binn Shl¬e rises behind the house and provides marvellous views over Lough Corrib and Eastern Connemara. Newly established 10 km walking route 'An Seanbh│ar' (Old road) passes by the house and connects Corr-na Mona and An Fhaiche, again with beautiful
views onto the lake all the way.
Another great way to experience our lovely landscape is by bicycle! Bicycles can be hired in the village of Clonbur.
Golfing
There are several excellent golf courses within a 30 minute drive, including Ashford Castle, Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Tuam and in Galway. Mini Golf can be played in the village of Cong.
Caving
The Cong area is a low-lying area with some spectacular karst development and where all of the drainage of the Lough Mask catchment discharges via underground routes. Many caves are to be viewed and include Kellys Cave, BallyMcClancy Cave, the Pigeon Hole and the Dry Canal.
Relaxing
If you just come here to relax you have picked the perfect location! Surrounded by the most beautiful lakes and rivers this is an oasis of calm and tranquility in one of the most scenic and picturesque parts of Ireland...
